日前，经过全世界提名和五轮严格评选，林同棪国际（中国）董事长邓文中院士当选爱丁堡皇家学会外籍院士。5月14日，邓文中院士出席入会仪式，并受到爱丁堡皇家学院院长安妮格洛弗颁发证书。
Recently, after worldwide nominations and five rounds of rigorous selection, Man-Chung Tang, Chairman of the Board, T. Y. Lin International (China), was elected as a Corresponding Fellow (foreign member) of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. On Monday, 14th May, 2018 the new Fellows elected to the RSE in 2018 attended the Induction Ceremony and were welcomed to the Fellowship by RSE President, Professor Dame Anne Glover.
第二天，5月15日，邓文中院士还获颁了2018年第17届欧洲桥梁会议的“终身成就奖”。
该奖项在爱丁堡市政厅由爱丁堡市的贝利，诺曼．沃克先生颁发。注：爱丁堡市的贝利是苏格兰地方政府的民官。相当于市长老或地方法官的职位。
The next day, 15th May, 2018, Dr. Tang also received a "Lifetime Achievement Award" from the 17th European Bridge Conference 2018" in Edinburgh.
The award was presented by the Baillie of the City of Edinburgh, Mr. Norman Work at the City Hall of Edinburgh. The Baillie is a civic officer in the local government of Scotland, a post similar to that of an alderman or magistrate.
邓文中是林同棪国际（中国）董事长，林同棪国际是一家国际知名咨询工程公司，总部设在美国旧金山。他本人是一位结构工程师，在世界不同地区设计了100多座大桥，因此获得“太阳永远照在他的桥上！”的称号！他是美国国家工程院院士和中国工程院外藉院士。他是工学博士，并获颂了名誉工学博士，名誉文学博士和名誉建筑师等荣誉学位。他是13所大学的荣誉教授。
Dr. Man-Chung Tang is the Chairman of the Board of T.Y. Lin International (China), a consulting engineering firm with headquarters in San Francisco. He is a structural engineer and has designed over 100 major bridges in different parts of the world, hence the motto “the Sun never sets on his bridges!” He is a member of the US National Academy of Engineering and a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He has been awarded honorary degrees of Doctor of Engineering, Doctor of Literature and in Architecture. He is an Honorary Professor of 13 universities.
